The difference between these two movements is the way in which the watch is wound up. Manual-winding watches must be wound by hand every day, whereas self-winding watches are wound by an internal rotor which responds to wrist movements. Self-winding watches usually have a power reserve of at least 40 hours.

A battery life varies usually from one to five years depending on the type of movement.

Use a lint free cloth to gently wipe away any sticky or yucky spots on the watch head. Wipe both the front and back of the watch head. Do not remove the cover over the watch face. The cover exists to prevent dirt and rust from affecting the watch face.

30 meters – water splashes and light rain
50 meters – brief submergence in water
100 meters – snorkeling and swimming pools
200 meters – shallow scuba diving
300 meters – deep scuba diving
1,000 meters or more – Required for professional deep sea diving. Only watches marked “DIVER’S” on the dial should really be used for diving as these fully comply with the international standards for diver’s watches.
